Quite the Public Affair

In addition to posting about my favorite songs and concert events, I may add a little gossip just for fun ![]()
I have a friend working an event tonight to support Jessica Simpson’s new album called A Public Affair. A local radio station gave out passes to attend a party for the new album and to roller skate with Jessica. I guess it’s cute because they are recreating the music video but small problem…Jessica doesn’t actually know how to skate. Hmmm…well I just read that she also can’t talk. Good luck tonight!
If you haven’t heard Jessica’s single yet, check out the video “Public Affair- Fans Only Version” (pretty funny)…maybe these fans can do her publicity tour this week?
Sing it out loud

This is for you, random guy singing his heart out on the side walk with his walkman.
And for the gym guy who walked away playing a little air guitar.
This is a post for all you people out there who love to sing out loud to their favorite songs, even if they are in public. I’ll be honest in saying that I learned how to sing out loud at a very young age. I remember the Christmas of 1980, I got a little portable record player and Laura Branigan’s Gloria single. My sister and I used our beds as twin stages and performed to that song nightly. The four walls of our room were witness to many lip syncing performances through out the 80s. But I never really took my show on the road, literally speaking.
Now, even though I’m a very experienced fan of singing along, I still don’t have the nerve to do it in public. I love to sing in the shower or at home, maybe in a karaoke bar if the mood is right. But I wish I could sing out loud while walking down the street listening to my iPod. How cool would that be? Maybe it will just take a certain song to overpower my nerves. Until then, amateur street performers (and you know who you are), sing it out loud!
Soothing Sounds

Some weekends when the breeze is just perfect from my balcony and the sun takes its time to rise up, nothing is better than enjoying some soothing melodies. This morning, I made some coffee and soaked up the the quiet with a little background music from Ben Taylor.
If you haven’t heard of him, I promise you’ve heard of his parents- James Taylor and Carly Simon. He has an amazing voice that blends seamlessly with his accoustic guitar. Check out Nothing I Can Do and you’ll swear it’s James Taylor!
Other soothing artists I like to enjoy include Jamie Cullum, Ben Harper, Diana Krall, and Damien Rice. My iPod has a playlist called Mellow Music and it includes all of them. I also have a Soulful Sunday playlist but that is for another post.
Cheers, hope you are enjoying your Saturday.
The Soundtrack for Summer
August 18, 2006 on 3:58 pm | In Misc | 4 Comments
I’m probably writing this a little late since summer is practically over, but I’m a fan of extending summer for as long as possible. Also, living in LA our weather usually stays pretty warm through October, so here goes.
I thought I’d list out some of my favorite songs for this summer:
Best Summer Soundtrack: Cars
Best Country Summer Song: Summertime, Kenny Chesney
Best Feel Good Summer Song: Diamonds, Los Lonely Boys
Best Pool Song (don’t judge me, you know it’s true): Stars Are Blind, Paris Hilton
Best Classic Summer Song: Centerfield, John Fogerty
Best BBQ/Beach Song: Summertime, DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
What are your favorite Summer songs? Post a comment.
