-Adam Levine sounds even better than last time

-Their new song, I think it’s called The Reason, will catch on like wild fire

Not Too Late for Norah To Become Famous

Norah Jones

I was watching 60 Minutes interview with Norah Jones recently. I learned some interesting things about her, like the fact her estranged father is a famous sitar player who she didn’t really have relationship with until she was an adult.  I also heard that she is now 27 and would rather remain an under the radar type of artist and didn’t like the fast celebrity that hit her almost a decade ago. That said, she’s still been releasing albums featuring her famous whispered lyrics.  I give her credit, she seems to have escaped the crazy splotlight that celebrity brings.

To respect her wishes, I won’t oversell her new album “Not Too Late.”  I’ll just say that it lives up to her standard of being a mellow collection of some okay songs. ;-) Check out Thinking About You, Broken and Be My Somebody.

My Austin Education: SXSW 2007

March 14, 2007 on 10:50 pm | In Music Festival | 2 Comments

I was at SXSW Interactive in the City of Live Music- Austin! It was a fun show. I had to be there for work, but it’s hardly work to hang out in a party town for weekend.

Coincidentally, Chris Pierce was playing in town that weekend. Naturally, I had to check him out. He played at the Lucky Lounge, which I highly recommend visiting. It’s a really cool venue with swanky lighting, cushioned chairs and couches for performances and a great bar!   Chris was rocking as usual. He should have a new album out before summer, so check back here for that review.

I finally got to see a live performance at Stubbs in their backyard stage. Lucinda Williams played there and she was awesome. Unfortunately, their sound system seemed a little quiet, so we had to move closer to really hear everything (and it’s not that big of an area).  She performed songs from her new album West. If you haven’t listened to Lucinda before, let this be the album that brings you into her world of blues. The songs are beautiful and bewildering.

I had a blast, though I forgot to bring a camera you can check out all the photos tagged with “SXSW 2007” on flickr to get the picture.
